About Our Tea Room

Robinson's Tea Room has been in business since 1995. What began as a small cafe in the heart of Stony Brook Village, NY, has grown into a thriving business. We offer comfortable, yet elegant, surroundings for lunch. A full luncheon menu features a variety of homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, hot dish specials, and desserts. Lunch is served Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00am-2:00pm. Reservations are highly encouraged. Robinson's Tea Room is an elegant tea room. The Tea Room has a full menu with special entrees and soups each day. Our staff takes pride in preparing food from scratch and selects top quality fruits and vegetables. Baked goods are also made from scratch, and there is a wide selection of desserts to choose from each day.

A Worldly Tradition

Also during the Tang Dynasty, tea spread to Japan by Japanese priests studying in China. Similar to the Chinese adoption of tea, tea was first consumed by priests and the rich for its medicinal properties. Tea is often associated with Zen Buddhism in Japan because priests drank tea to stay awake and meditate. Soon, the Buddhists developed the Japanese Tea Ceremony for sharing tea in a sacred, spiritual manner.
